About Coach
SOLOMON GORDON BATOON“Post By Lindsey Gamiao”2019 FACF ALUMNI OF THE YEAR INDUCTEECoaching Profile: Solomon Batoon, 2014, completed ten years at Saint Francis School, seven at the helm of their Athletic Department. He was Director of Athletics and Head Basketball Coach (Men’s). In their first five years, they won four consecutive Interscholastic League of Honolulu (ILH) varsity conference titles and a State Championship in their third year as a varsity program. They won 20 or more games each year. The Saints had an undefeated season in their third year, winning a State Championship (2013). The overall record at Saint Francis School was 45 – 5 in conference play. Coach Batoon had the privilege of being selected and named BIIF–2X’s, OIA-2X’s, and ILH-3X’s Coach of the Year, and has won the conference/division championship in each of those conferences. In his 40-plus years of coaching, he has coached multiple All-State players, including a two-time State Player of the Year, from 2012 to 2013. The team finished the year ranked #7 overall in the Star-Honolulu Advertiser coaches’ poll and ranked #1 in the DII Division statewide. Saint Francis School has been an all-girls School for over 80 years. In its first four years of boys’ varsity basketball, the team was very competitive, so competitive that they were nicknamed "D-I Destroyers" and were the only local team to beat the D-I State Champions, along with six other D-I State Qualifying teams. In earlier years Coach Batoon was the Head Coach at Damien 1976-80, Seminole State College, FL. 1980-84, Chaminade University, HI. 1984-86 (Assistant Coach & Assistant AD), Kaiser, Saint Joseph, Hilo, South Division Champions, and Campbell High School OIA West Division Champions.
I promise to give GOVERNORS BASKETBALL my ALL-IN commitment. There will be no excuses or reasons for my efforts and actions. I will trust the process. I will do everything I can to properly prepare to prevent poor performances at every practice, conditioning, and game. I will bring a positive effort, enthusiasm, and pride to every game and practice. I will uphold the standards set forth by our code of Champions, and alumni athletes who have achieved excellence. And I will be attentive to our players' true intentions.

Coaching Profile: Going into his second year at Farrington. He is an all-state and all-OIA basketball and football athlete and alumnus of Waipahu High School. He also has 20 years of coaching experience at an elite basketball camp. Coach Rory has coached at Moanalua High School, winning an OIA Basketball Championship, and served as an assistant coach on our Varsity Team from 2024 to 2025. He is also a sports commentator, providing color commentary on OC16, and has his radio show on 98.5. Coach Roary is all about our Student Athletes and is all in with the philosophy of our program. Coach Rory believes that to be successful, athletes must take responsibility for their play and work ethics.
Coaching Profile: Tim Dunham is in his second year at Farrington. As a player-coach, Coach Tim was an outstanding athlete, inducted into his High School and College Hall of Fame. Dunham is from Stockton, CA. Coach was a shooting guard who last played at Charleston Gunners in the CBA. Coach Dunham graduated and played at Chaminade University in 1983. He was drafted by the Portland Trail Blazers (NBA) in 1983 in the 4th round (85 overall). Coach Tim is all about the total program and believes that for our program to grow, we must mirror the varsity program.
Coach Profile: Coach "G" Luke Granadosin. Coach G is in his first year with the program, is a proud FHS alumnus and retired U.S. Army veteran with 28 years of honorable service and now serves full-time as a JROTC Instructor at FHS. He brings a strong background in leadership, mentorship, and athletic development to the team.
Coach G played for the FHS boys’ varsity basketball team from 1993 to 1995. His passion for the game continued during his military career, where he competed in the 2008–2009 Camp Buehring Kuwait Army Basketball League. He led his team to a championship title and was named tournament MVP.
He is also a certified Master Fitness Trainer, bringing valuable expertise in physical conditioning, injury prevention, and overall athlete development. Coach G combines military discipline, teaching experience, and a love for the game to help student-athletes grow in skill, character, and leadership—on and off the court.
Coach Mike Quartero
Volunteer Coach Varsity Michael Quartero (Have been with the governors for several years) Coach Mike is responsible for practice and supervision of team managers. Coach Mike is now in his second year with our program.
Stats Manager Coach Shayniah Cabato-Machado
Mis. Machado has been an athlete at Farrington and a form Women's Basketball Athlete. Shayniah and her family has always been supportive of GOVS basketball. we are excited to have her back.
